DearType is a small type foundry based in Sofia, Bulgaria, run by me, Veneta Rangelova. Before founding DearType, I made my living as a logo designer (since 2007), and that soon grew into full branding projects at an agency called Realist. Because many visual identities require custom logotypes for trademarking, designing type became a natural next step.
Back then, there were almost no display fonts with Cyrillic support-let alone scripts-which was a constant frustration. So in 2014, DearType: "Letters with character" was born.
DearType releases are primarily script families, often paired with complementary display sans or serif companions. I focus on brands looking for a personal, casual voice-away from the typical corporate feel. That usually includes publishing houses, cartoon channels, FMCG, coffee shops and roasters, art magazines, kids-related products, urban apparel brands, and more.
Most fonts include a generous set of extras-ligatures, swashes, and stylistic alternates-that can make a real difference in logotypes and headlines. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of each font page to see the full glyph set. Many families also come with "goodies": additional graphic elements such as frames, speech bubbles, borders, and more, designed for quick and playful exploration. Also font pairing? Solved!
